Background Information

I know from my own experience that life can sometimes be difficult and drain us physically, emotionally and spiritually. I have worked as a therapist for 13 years and have supported many people to explore their problems and make the changes they desired to enhance their quality of life.

I embarked on training while working full time in a large corporation. Working there has helped me develop a keen understanding of the many challenges people face when working in an often demanding, competitive, paternalistic working environment. These demands include finding ways to get along with a variety of personalities at work, dealing with ever-increasing workloads, being at work when we need to be somewhere else, struggling to get the right training or well deserved recognition.

I found my counselling training enabled me to support my colleagues and staff when they struggled with issues at work or family problems or simply to have an outlet to release their build up of stress arising from the every day challenge of balancing work and life.

As well as General Management and Training Management qualifications, I also trained as a Performance Coach. As a therapist I am fully qualified, holding an Advanced Diploma in Counselling validated by COSCA (Confederation of Scottish Counselling Agencies) and Napier University. I am fully committed to improving my competence as a therapist, a measure of which was my completion of an additional 4 years of training and development (and a second Counselling Diploma) with CPTI (Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Institute) in Edinburgh . I am also a qualified hypnotherapist.

I am a member of UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA), European Association of Transactional Analysis (EATA) (both of which are member organisations of UKCP), International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) and British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am an accredited member of BACP.
